U.S : Demand FedEx #DropTheNRA !

Corporations must take a stand !

#DropTheNRA

Demand that FedEx #DropTheNRA

Dear friend, as companies are publicly cutting ties with the NRA, in the wake of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, FedEx is choosing to stand firm behind the NRA. FedEx provides NRA members a 26% discount on shipping services through their Business Alliance program. This is a subtle way that many white supremacist companies, like FedEx, invest in their white nationalist values.

FedEx must, choose the side of justice and, #DropTheNRA !

For years, the NRA, the country’s largest gun lobby, has fought to expand the civil rights of gun owners--except when it comes to Black people. And one thing is clear : the NRA is not here for all people who carry guns.

The conversation around gun violence didn’t just begin with the brave students protesting across the country. As a community, we’ve had a very complex relationship to guns and gun violence. Black folks have been killed at the hands of racist with guns, because of the anxiety, fear, and hatred that’s felt when they see us. The NRA invested so much money into Donald Trump in order to continue spreading false narratives of Black and Brown people being inherently dangerous and the only way for white Americans to protect themselves is with a gun.

John Crawford and Philando Castile were killed by police for carrying a gun in an open carry state. In both cases, there was a national cry for justice, yet the NRA remained silent. The NRA said that “Stand Your Ground” is a human right when George Zimmerman killed 17- year- old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, but said nothing when Marissa Alexander was facing 60 years for firing a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband.

In fact, the only time the NRA spoke when it came to injustice against Black people was in the aftermath of the Charleston massacre. Dylan Roof shot and killed nine Black people in the name of white supremacy, and the NRA blamed it on the pastor killed in the massacre, Rev. Clementa Pinckney.

In 2016, the NRA spent $21 million on mostly political ads for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. They ended up spending over $35 million on the 2016 presidential election altogether. The NRA broke their own record for campaign spending in pursuit of getting Trump elected president. Now in office, Donald Trump is doing literally everything in his power to make our lives a living hell. Trump has cut funding for crucial programs, bypassed Congress to sign harmful Executive Orders that are actively destroying our families, and is proving himself to the white supremacist candidate that the NRA spent so much money supporting. By continuing to partner with the NRA, FedEx is admitting that they support white supremacy.

FedEx is susceptible to public pressure right now, so we must keep calling them out. They were #58 on the Fortune 500 list of companies in 2016, with revenues exceeding $50 billion. They have enormous economic power, and they can send a clear message to the NRA and set a precedent for other large corporations that it doesn’t pay to support the NRA.
